New Release - Read&Write GOLD 8.1

Read&Write 8.1 Gold continues the tradition of innovative assistive technology software from Texthelp for individuals with literacy support needs.

New Features and Enhancements in Version 8.1 include:

• Support for Windows Vista

- Read&Write 8.1 GOLD supports Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows Vista.

• Screenshot Reader

- Users can now select any part of the screen to be read aloud. The selected text will appear in a separate window and be read aloud with highlighting. This feature works with all text, including text that is embedded within an image or is contained within inaccessible flash giving users access to text found within many websites and applications (i.e., Blackboard) that was previously unreadable.

• Scanning Enhancements

- Scan from a digital camera: Users can take a picture of a page or document using a digital camera, scan it directly into a computer from the camera, and read it aloud using Read&Write 8.1 GOLD.

- Ability to enable/disable specific scanner options dependent on the type of scanner.

• Study Skills Integration

- The Study Skills Toolbar is now integrated within the main Read&Write 8.1 GOLD application. By integrating Study Skills into the main application, users can now select and extract highlighted text from within Internet Explorer, as well as MS Word.

• Summary Feature

- Users can now select a portion of text in a document or on the screen and Read&Write 8.1 GOLD will create a new MS Word document that collapses the text into a summary. For example, a page of text can be summarized into just a couple of paragraphs.

• Take Settings Home

- Allows users to copy their Read&Write 8.1 GOLD settings to a USB drive and then copy them onto another computer.

• Fact Folder Preview Panel

- As each fact is selected, a preview of the fact is shown at the bottom of the Fact Folder window.

- 1-Click export to MS Word.

• Fact Mapper Enhancements

- New option to re-organize the tree in a number of tree styles including top down, bottom up, left to right, and right to left.

- Fact Mapper now displays thumbnail of image if the fact is an image.

- 1-Click export to MS Word.

• Automatic "Live" Update

- Automatically deploys updates for Read&Write 8.1 GOLD via the internet to all users, even those with restricted accounts, and keeps the software up-to-date at all times.
